About
Profile
Quinn Architects is a London-based architectural practice led by Laurence Quinn and Costa Elia. Our work has been widely recognised through awards and publications, including RIBA London Awards, AJ, Civic Trust and The Sunday Times Home of the Year in 2025.
The practice undertakes a wide range of residential, cultural and commercial projects in the UK and internationally, working with both existing buildings and new construction. Our buildings and projects seek to be modest and intelligent responses to the activity of everyday use and we have an intense interest in our work from inception to post-occupancy.
We have a particular interest in working with existing buildings, finding new uses and architectural possibilities within historic structures. We believe that the thoughtful adaptation and reuse of buildings is both a cultural responsibility and an important response to the environmental challenges facing architecture. Our experience includes working with listed buildings, sensitive historic environments and significant examples of twentieth-century architecture.
We have a longstanding relationship with the contemporary art world, having worked with artists, collectors and cultural organisations including Frieze, Rachel Whiteread and prominent private collectors such as Valeria Napoleone. Our work encompasses artists' homes and studios, spaces for cultural organisations and private residences designed around significant art collections. This engagement with contemporary art enriches our architectural thinking, bringing different perspectives to the physical and spatial qualities of buildings.
Across all our work, we seek to create architecture that is contemporary yet enduring, combining an openness to new ideas with a respect for the character and history of the places in which we work.
Quinn Architects are a RIBA Chartered Practice.

History
History
Quinn Architects was established in London in 2002 by Laurence Quinn, building on his extensive international experience in architecture, including his time as a partner at Antonio Citterio & Partners in Milan.
Since its foundation, the practice has developed a diverse portfolio of residential, cultural and commercial projects in the UK and internationally, with significant work in London and Los Angeles. Throughout its development, the exploration of a contemporary architectural language has remained central to the practice, alongside a particular interest in materiality, craftsmanship and the relationship between new architecture and existing buildings.
The practice has established a strong reputation for working within sensitive historic environments, adapting and transforming existing buildings while introducing carefully considered contemporary interventions. This work ranges from the refurbishment of listed buildings in central London to new private residences and significant residential projects internationally.
Our longstanding involvement with the contemporary art world has also been an important influence on the practice, through collaborations with artists, cultural organisations and private collectors.
Today, led by Laurence Quinn and Costa Elia, Quinn Architects continues to develop this approach, combining architectural research and design with a detailed understanding of construction. The practice's work has received significant recognition, including a RIBA London Award and The Sunday Times Home of the Year in 2025.
